Auditor General Tables First Audit Work Plan for the Ottawa Police Service

Ottawa – The Auditor General tabled a 3-year Audit Work Plan for the Ottawa Police Service (OPS or the Service) today. The Ottawa Police Service Board (OPSB) requested that the Auditor General consider conducting a risk and opportunities assessment and develop an independent audit work plan to identify areas to assist the Service to more effectively and efficiently deliver police services.  This is the first time the OAG has brought forward an audit work plan for the OPS, which was unanimously approved by the OPSB.

“I am very much looking forward to assisting the Board and the Service through the conduct of our audits and to continue to bring transparency in the stewardship of public funds”, said Mrs. Gougeon.

The 2024-2027 Audit Work Plan consists of three audits: Audit of Staffing, Audit of Project Management, and an Audit of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Additionally, the plan includes a list of potential audit topics, which can be covered in the future if time permits or priorities change. These topics cover a broad range of areas, including but not limited to, public reporting and intake, human resources, and enforcement of protest rules.
