Auditor General Tables Reports on the Audit of the Climate Change Master Plan and the Audit of the Purchasing Card Program
Ottawa – Today, Auditor General Nathalie Gougeon tabled two reports: an Audit of the Climate Change Master Plan and an Audit of the Purchasing Card Program.
The Audit of the Climate Change Master Plan highlights that the City has reached a critical point where decisions will need to be made that will ultimately affect the direction, priorities, and resources related to the Plan. In particular, the audit recommends a realignment of the Climate Change Master Plan's priorities with the City’s current strategic direction, as well as prioritizing efforts focused on both mitigation and resiliency. The report provides seven actionable recommendations that can assist the City in achieving its climate targets. The report included 7 recommendations, all of which were agreed on by management.
The Purchasing Card Program Audit was conducted to ensure responsible and accountable use of funds. The audit identified several areas for improvement including greater clarity in policy and procedures, as well as mandatory training for management and card users. Further, the audit identified opportunities to streamline the purchasing reconciliation process, resulting in efficiencies and savings. The report included 6 recommendations, all of which were agreed on by management.
